FightSMA to Close its Doors in 2017

A Message of Appreciation from the FightSMA Board of Directors

Monday, June 26, 2017

It is with deep appreciation and deep affection for our many friends in the SMA community that the Board of Directors of FightSMA announces that FightSMA will this year be closing its doors.

FightSMA has for more than a quarter century been a part of the effort to bring attention, funding, and treatment to bear on spinal muscular atrophy. It has been our privilege to play a role in this fight, and we are proud of what FightSMA has been able to achieve during these 25 years.

We have marveled at the courage and the tenacity of so many families fighting SMA, and we have been humbled by the support given so generously by so many to FightSMA. We are grateful for your involvement, your contributions, your sacrifices, and your prayers.

We have been witness to the perseverance and ingenuity of incredible researchers in the last 25 years and are excited about the new treatments coming to bear.  It is indeed a time of great hope and great possibilities.

The FightSMA organization will be closing its doors in the months ahead, but the members of the Board of Directors and the many volunteers that have made FightSMA’s work possible will always be a part of the SMA family.

Thank you and God bless you,

The FightSMA Board of Directors
